Abstract( 284 )   HTML (   PDF(1758KB)( 443 )
Based on the seismic data (Mw ≥ 6.9) in Peru, the signal intensity of the earthquakes tendency is analyzed and judged by the methods of commensurability information according to the theory of commensurability. The butterfly structure diagram, commensurability structure system and epicenter migration approach are employed to prove the reliability of the forecast result and reveal how the astronomical factors affect strong earthquake activities. It shows that the seismic activities of Mw ≥ 6.9 in Peru since 1970 exhibit obvious commensurability, the tendency of an intermediate focus earthquake occurring in 2019 is strong with the random probability of 55.56%. Besides, the great earthquakes in Peru have a significant relationship with the solar activity, earth's rotation and lunar movement:Previous earthquakes mostly occurred in the solar activity peak and decline period, the double cycle of sunspot and the years with variance of the Earth's rotation rate; Earthquake unlikely occurred in full moon and twilight moon days.

Abstract( 249 )   HTML (   PDF(982KB)( 181 )
This paper studies single processor scheduling with time restrictions of B-constraint, which means that no unit time interval[x,x+1) can be allocated to more than B jobs for any real x ≥ 0. By analyzing the structure and properties of optimal schedules for B=2, a heuristic algorithm with running time O(n log n) is presented. For a small number (≤ 6) of jobs, it is proved that the algorithm is optimal.

Abstract( 313 )   HTML (   PDF(995KB)( 248 )
The article deals with a class of nonlinear constraint programming problems, and a new hybrid biogeography-based optimization algorithm is proposed to search for the value of the variables. To meet the global convergence requirements of the constraint optimization problem, a new efficient mutation operator based on Zoutendijk feasible direction method is designed by integrating the advantages of traditional and intelligent optimization so that it can generate high quality potential offspring. Then, a hybrid biogeography-based optimization algorithm is constructed to search for the optimal solution of the constraint programming. Furthermore, a specific example is demonstrated which shows that our new mechanism can be easily used to force the individuals moving toward the feasible region and improve the feasible solutions gradually. The theoretical identification of operator design strategy, convergence analysis of intelligent algorithm and simulation experiment on six different types of numerical examples verify the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive mechanism in solving optimization problem.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2018, 45(1): 44-53.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2018.01.008
Abstract( 326 )   HTML (   PDF(2075KB)( 171 )
This paper proposes a new class of shape-preserving piecewise cubic polynomial curves with both local and global shape control parameters. By presetting the properties of its basis functions and then solving equations, a set of polynomial basis functions with two shape parameters are derived, including the cubic uniform B-spline basis functions as a special case. Based on the relationship between the new basis functions and the cubic Bernstein basis functions, the totally positive property of the new basis functions is proved and a new class of piecewise cubic polynomial curves is therefore defined. The effect of the relative position of the control polygons' side vectors onto the shape characteristic of the corresponding curve segments is analyzed. Necessary and sufficient conditions are obtained for the curve segments containing single or double inflection points, a loop or a cusp, or be locally or globally convex, which provide a theoretical guide for adjusting the shape of curve segments.

Abstract( 402 )   HTML (   PDF(2934KB)( 347 )
In order to reduce the storage and improve the image quality of the compressed, a lossy image compression algorithm based on principal component analysis and set partitioning in hierarchical tree(SPIHT)compression algorithm is proposed. Firstly, the image is decomposed by principal component decomposition, and the main features are selected to realize image compression, then SPIHT algorithm is used to compress the image into wavelet coefficients of different subband. Finally, Huffman coding is employed to achieve two-level image compression. Comparing this algorithm with SPIHT algorithm, Huffman coding algorithm of SPIHT, JEPG 2000 and PCA compression algorithm, our experimental results demonstrate a better performance than other compression algorithms and can obtain higher PNSR and SSIM under the same compression ratio.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2018, 45(1): 65-72.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2018.01.011
Abstract( 272 )   HTML (   PDF(7806KB)( 205 )
Mesoscale analysis on a disastrous convective weather event is presented. This event occurred in north Anhui on June 5th 2009, causing large economic loss and casualties. Satellite data, radar data, automatic weather station data, and Japan reanalysis data are used to analyze this case. The results showed that there was a stationary mesoscale convergence line formed by the southwest flow and the northwest flow in north Anhui in that day afternoon. The respective low-level wind field and convergence field showed that a disturbance was embedded in the southwest background flow near the convergence line. By applying the Shuman-Shapiro smoothing filtering method to the Japan reanalysis data, the disturbance characterized by a horizontal vortex circulation is revealed. The vortex disturbance corresponded with a low-level mesoscale convergence zone and convergence center, as well as a strongest upward flow near the convergence center. Radar and satellite pictures showed that new convection occurred near the vortex disturbance by 1500 LST. The mesoscale disturbance features had a good corresponding relationship with the genesis of the first echo of the convection, indicating that convection was more likely to initiate in the center and east of the mesoscale disturbance vortex or the convection was triggered by the upward flow of the vortex.

Abstract( 338 )   HTML (   PDF(2283KB)( 207 )
Based on the daily highest temperature data of Guangdong and Guangxi in summer from 1960 to 2015, using the trend analysis, correlation analysis, and climate tendency rate, IDW spatial interpolation methods, we study the time-space variation tendency of summer heat waves and its influence in recent 56 years. The results show that:(1) From 1960 to 2015, the days of high temperature, heat wave frequency, strong heat waves are increased, and the growth rate of Guangdong province is far higher than Guangxi. (2) The distribution of high temperature days and heat waves exhibit a zonal feature. The high temperature days in the south are less than that in the north region, presenting an increasing trend from the coast to the inland. Besides, the number of harm high temperature days increases from the southeast coast to the northwest inland and the frequency of strong heat waves decreases from the junction of the two areas to the coastal areas. (3) The variation rate of high temperature day is generally increasing during the 56 years, while its spatial distribution presents a decreasing trend from Guiping, Luoding, Guangning, Luoning, Guangzhou, Zengcheng, Lianping to their peripheral regions. The variation rate of harm high temperature days presents the similar trend from Luoding, Gaoyao, Guangning, Babu, Lianzhou to their peripheral regions. The increasing trend of heat wave variation rate of Guangdong province is more apparent. The variation rate of strong heat weaves is increasing from Luoding, Guangning, Lianzhou to their peripheral regions. (4) The index of the Tibetan plateau, India-burmese trough intensity present a strong correlation with heat wave events in Guangdong and Guangxi. The heat wave events of Guangdong and Guangxi have an apparent positive correlation.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2018, 45(1): 82-91.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2018.01.013
Abstract( 468 )   HTML (   PDF(7079KB)( 1024 )
Taxi, as an important supplement of urban public transport, plays an important role in resident daily traffic. However, because of the unbalanced spatial and temporal distribution of the potential passengers, high no-load rate and unhealthy competition keep releasing negative impacts on taxi business. With the development of ITS (intelligent transport system) technology, more and more attempts have been made to study approaches of seeking taxi passengers, while neglecting the analysis of high profitable seeking strategy. Based on mathematical statistics and geo-statistics, we propose a novel spatial and temporal analysis method based on an evaluation index, which takes the combination of income per unit time in the load state and the time for seeking passengers in the adjacent no-load state. We investigated the Shenzhen's taxi data set, which contained 13 798 taxis GPS trajectories during a week from April 18 to April 24, 2011 to conduct a comprehensive analysis on the characteristics of taxi operation and the spatial and temporal distribution of people's daily traffic. Our study indicates that the designed method yields a better reflection on the distribution of high profitable passengers, providing a new perspective for the efficient operation of the taxi.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2018, 45(1): 103-111,117.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2018.01.015
Abstract( 370 )   HTML (   PDF(12513KB)( 315 )
The chiral transition mechanism and water solvation effect of three kinds of the most stable configurations of histidine molecules were studied by adopting the B3LYP method of density functional theory, the MP2 method of perturbation theory, and smd model method of self consistent reaction field theory. Our study on reaction channels shows that there are three channels a, b and c for the title reaction. For the configuration one and two, the proton of the chiral carbon is transferred directly with amino group as the bridge in the channel a, and in b hydroxyl isomerism firstly, then the proton is transferred with amino group as the bridge, while in c it is transferred with carbonyl/amino groups as the bridge. For the configuration three, the proton is transferred with the following respective groups as the bridge for channels a, b and c:only amino group, carbonyl then amino group, carboxyl then amino group. Calculations of potential energy surface show that channel b is the dominant reaction path in the configuration one and two, step-determining gibbs free energy barriers are 250.8 kJ·mol-1 and 251.7 kJ·mol-1, respectively, which are generated by the transition state of proton transfering from the chiral carbon to the amino N after hydroxyl isomerism. In addition, channel a is the dominant reaction path in the configuration three, and step-determining gibbs free energy barrier is 250.8 kJ·mol-1 that is generated by the transition state of proton transfer from the chiral carbon to the amino N. The water solvation effect reduces the step-determining energy barrier to 109.1 kJ·mol-1 for the dominant reaction path in the configuration one. It shows that water environment has an excellent catalytic effect on the histidine optical isomerization.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2018, 45(1): 112-117.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2018.01.016
Abstract( 240 )   HTML (   PDF(1296KB)( 221 )
R-poly (3-hydroxybutyrate) is an important organic polymer with significant physiological effects and its synthesis is always the focus of polymer chemistry. Herein, we report a new strategy for the synthesis of poly (R-3-hydroxyl) butyrate. In this strategy, high molecular weight chiral polyester is obtained through lipase-catalyzed stereo-selective condensation of rac-ethyl-3-hydroxyl-butyrate, and the highest molecular weight can reach to 2.0×103 Da. The successful combination of enzyme-catalyzed dynamic kinetic resolution and enzyme-catalyzed condensation makes this strategy more efficient. Moreover, the adjusting of molecular weight has also been done by changing the optical purity value of monomer. The molecular weight of the obtained chiral polymer can be uniformly distributed within 0.3×103 to 1.3×103 Da.
