Low-cost and portable EPS rapid cutting system

Due to the current development requirement of expanded polystyrene(EPS) manufacture, a low-cost and portable polystyrene foam cutting system was developed. This system integrated the knowledge of CAD/CAM, motor control, CNC, advanced manufacture to determine its design scheme, develop host computer software, and finally program graphical user interface (GUI) optimization, optimization sequencing of graphic elements based on DXF file and cutting path planning. Additionally, software functions were tested and a real foam part was cut in the system. It has been proved that the system is easy to use and dimension tolerance is small which can satisfy the requirement of engineering application.

Research on model of complex product developing process based on knowledge based engineering

To improve efficiency of complex product development and control complexity of the interaction between every aspects in the complex product development process, a new model of complex product development process is presented based on knowledge based engineering (KBE). The model integrates the theory of KBE into the whole lifecycle development process of complex product. And knowledge reasoning technology can obtain knowledge and data of every developing phase from database and knowledge library to drive and guide complex product developing process to better reuse knowledge. Moreover, research on the key technologies of the model are condcuted, which includes the technology of developing knowledge processing and CAD/CAM/CAE/CAPP integrating technology based on KBE. Two knowledge processing methods, knowledge processing based on rule-object-frame and knowledge processing based on rule-case, are proposed, and its reasoning algorithms are researched; based on knowledge library, database, rule-base and case-base, CAD/CAM/CAE/CAPP is realized to integrate PDM,STEP neutral file,rules, cases and knowledge etc. Finally, the rapid design system for tunnel boring machine(TBM)main frame can be realized through database technique, programming language VC#. NET and CATIA software. This system effectively reduces the complexity of TBM main frame development and shortens its development cycle. And one application example of TBM main frame is given to verify the validity and reasonability of the model.

Decision making method for failure mode criticality based on grey relational analysis

Based on grey relational analysis, a decision making method for failure mode criticality was proposed. Through analyzing designers' design ideas and preferences, the criticality of each failure mode was ranked according to its grey correlation degree to that of ideal failure mode, which conquered the problems that the criticality of failure mode was difficult to compare when the risk priority numbers were equal or close, and criticality priority factors had no relative weight. Finally, the proposed method was verified by the case of process FMECA on a specified product.

Machining dimension type recognition based on self-organizing feature map neural network

An automatic machining dimension type recognition method based on self-organizing feature map (SOFM) neural network was presented. Firstly, the extensible markup language(XML) file including data of component features was acquired from 3D CAD software, and the machining features and dimensions were extracted from the XML files. The machining features of component were treated as neurons in the input layer of SOFM network, which would be considered as input vectors of SODM after processing. By employing the self-studying and self-organizing capability of SOFM, the input vectors were trained and the trained network could implement well recognition of machining dimension type. Finally, though recognition of dimension type of some component, the validity of the proposed method for four typical machining dimension types, namely plane, inner hole, outer circle and orientation, were demonstrated.

Deployment analysis of two-dimensional deployable panel and shell structures

2D deployable panel and shell structure based on paper folding model could obtain large deploying area under small folding volume, whose deploying efficiency was high. Staring from 2D paper folding model, research on the characteristics of this kind of deployable structure was carried out, and then the deploying process of this model was simulated. By employing the Moore-Penrose general inverse matrix, combining panel unit theory and its corresponding constraints handling, the deploying process of this model was analyzed and simulated. By integrating dynamic equations, velocity and acceleration can be computed as well.

Research on terminal-guidance ballistic model under windy condition

The existence of wind changes the direction and value of relative velocity between terminal-guidance and air, which leads to the change of direction and value of air drag and air drag acceleration as well as the related forces and moments. In order to analyze characteristics of influence of the existence of wind on the motion features of terminal-guidance, ballistic model must be established. Based on the standard ballistic model, mainly considering wx (range wind) and wz(beam wind), relative ballistic coordinate, relative velocity, relative angle of attack, relative angle of sideslip are introduced, and the projection of forces and moments are analyzed. Finally, the terminal-guidance ballistic model under windy condition is established. Through simulation, the rule of wind's influence on terminal-guidance is obtained, which establishes the foundation for further research on its ballistic characteristics.

Structure design of precise displacement platform without guide apparatus

A new precise displacement platform without guide apparatus was developed, which perfected the capability of the ones used in the correlative fields of mechanics nowadays, and additionally improved their displacement straightness and position accuracy, and finally lowered their cost. The proposed platform was developed based on the moving theories of parallelogram and proportional lever. Besides the advantages mentioned above, it was convenient to install and maintain with small volume and could be used under weightless condition. Therefore it could be applied to the aviation industry and the other precise displacement systems.
