A Brief Introduction to Chinese Journal of Engineering Design
Chinese Journal of Engineering Design is a reputable journal published by Zhejiang University Press Co., Ltd. It was founded in December, 1994 as the first internationally cooperative journal in the area of engineering design research. Administrated by the Ministry of Education of China, it is sponsored by Zhejiang University.
This journal is devoted to reporting most up-to-date achievements of engineering design researches and therefore, to promote the communications of academic researches and their applications to industry. Achievments of great creativity and practicablity are extraordinarily desirable. Aiming at supplying designers, developers and researchers of diversified technical artifacts with valuable references, its content covers all aspects of design theory and methodology, as well as its enabling environment, for instance, creative design, concurrent design, conceptual design, intelligent design, web-based design, reverse engineering design, industrial design, design optimization, tribology, design by biological analogy, virtual reality in design, structural analysis and design, design knowledge representation, design knowledge management, design decision-making systems, etc.
With Professor Yang Hua-yong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, as its Editor-in-Chief, the editorial committee of this journal is composed of more than 20 academicians and experts in the area of engineering design. With aid of NSFC (National Science Foundation of China), VDI (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure), CDZWF (das Chinesisch-Deutsche Zentrum für Wissenschaftsförderung, Sino-German Center for Research Promotion), CSME (Chinse Society of Mechanical Engineering), Zhejiang University and industrial partners in recent years, it has focused on introducing the trends of engineering design researches, the progress of NSFC projects in related areas, the cooperative product development experience between industry, universities and institutes, and particularly many original contributions of domestic and international researchers, experts and young scientists, which has shaped the characteristics of this journal and made it more and more popular among both engineering designers and manufacturing engineers.
Its readers primarily cover designers, developers and researchers of technical artifacts, manufacturing engineers, technical and administrative staffs of designing institutes, as well as lecturers and graduates majoring in mechatronics and product development in universities and colleges.
As a result, it is regarded as a “key Chinese Journal” by Peiking University Library, a “key Chinese journal of science and technology” by Ministry of Science and Technology of China, a source journal of CSCD (Chinese Science Citation Database) by Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as one of the excellent journals of Zhejiang Province.
