Ink diffusion simulation using force feedback technology |

Abstract The force feedback technology was introduced in the virtual painting process of Chinese calligraphy and painting; the ink diffusion simulation method was proposed to simulate ink diffusion result of brush strokes on different rice papers in real time. The brush stroke simulation algorithm was presented to simulate the outline and ink quantity of the brush stroke during painting process. A parameterized rice paper model, which consisited of paper cell as its basic unit, was constructed by investigating the fiber distribution, absorbency and diffusivity of different rice papers. Ink transfer between paper cells could effectively express the “particle phenomenon” and the change of the ink density in the diffusion zone of diffused brush stroke. The virtual painting system with force feedback technology was established based on the hardware components HP xw 8600 workstation and Phantom Desktop haptic device. With this system, the brush strokes with different ink diffusion result can be painted on various types of rice paper in real time by using the Phantom Desktop haptic device, which effectively enhances reality to users.

力反馈技术水墨扩散仿真
将力反馈技术引入中国书画绘制仿真过程,提出基于力反馈技术的水墨扩散仿真方法,实时仿真不同宣纸上笔道的水墨扩散效果.通过研究毛笔受力时笔道轮廓的形成和笔纸之间的水墨传输过程,提出毛笔笔道的仿真算法.研究不同宣纸的纤维分布及其对水墨的吸收和扩散,构建以纸元为基本单位的参数化宣纸模型.利用水墨在纸元间的传输有效地仿真了“粒状现象”和笔道扩散区域墨色的深浅变化.基于硬件组件HP xw 8600 工作站和Phantom Desktop力反馈设备,构建力反馈技术虚拟绘制系统.用户可以通过Phantom Desktop力反馈设备在不同的宣纸上实时绘制出有扩散效果的笔道,增强了虚拟绘制过程的真实感.
