Numerical simulation of deformation and stress in sliding
bearing considering oil film lubrication

Abstract:

The temperature field in the bush and oil film was solved by using thermo-fluid coupling method aiming at the hydrodynamic sliding bearing of a steam turbine-generator rotor. The oil film pressure distribution was obtained by solving Reynolds‘s equation using finite difference method in condition that the bearing had oil groove. A method of exerting discrete oil film pressure loads in batch onto the meshes of the bush inner hole surface was proposed. After getting reasonable oil film temperature field which can assure good operation of the bearing, the deformation and stress fields were obtained by the thermo-structural coupling way. Meanwhile, the distribution rules of deformation and stress of the bush were proposed by comparing the simulation results with different width-diameter ratio and eccentricity respectively. Results indicate that the numerical simulation of deformation and stress of hydrodynamic sliding bearing can be effectively conducted by the method. The deformation and stress of the bearing bush both increased with the increase of width-diameter ratio and eccentricity respectively．
