Abstract:

Near field couplings between passive components in a typical Boost PFC converter were analyzed and modeled to evaluate its significant effects on EMI noise.The equivalent circuit models of Boost inductor and capacitor were developed according to the measured impedance characteristic curves. Ansoft HFSS software was adopted as the tool for field simulation.The mutual inductances were extracted to estimate inductive couplings using Z parameters while parasitic capacitances were calculated by Y parameters to represent capacitive couplings .The magnetic coupling model and the electric coupling model were obtained respectively.The complete model of near field couplings was established then and verified by comparison of simulated and measured voltage gains. The analytical results also indicate that magnetic couplings have more significant effects on conducted differential-mode noise than that of electric couplings．
