Axiomatic design based on improved function-means tree

After analyzing the current application situation of axiomatic design in product design, the two disadvantages of existing axiomatic design: it cannot provide specific mapping implementing means from functional field to physical field, and it cannot support empirical design behavior, are analyzed. Aiming at these disadvantages, the framework model of axiomatic design method based on modified function-means tree (IFMT) was presented. Then, modified function-means tree was established based on design knowledge tree, according to which the decomposition and mapping from function requirement of axiomatic design to design parameters were promoted. This implemented co-evolution of function and structure in axiomatic design. Finally, by taking automatic sweet packaged machine as a case study, the feasibility of this means was demonstrated.
Servo design of UV/IR complex warning system based on DSP

The false alarm rate and detection precision of ultraviolet (UV) warning are low while those of infrared (IR) warning are opposite. Therefore a new kind of UV and IR composite alarm warning system was put forward. A servo system based on TMS320F2812 was designed and then the servo-control model based on design requirements and the mechanism fabric parameters was established. Moreover, the soft and hardware of this model were developed. Finally, the servo-control simulation of this servo system based on Matlab as well as experimental demonstration of this model in the simulating environment was conducted. The simulating result accorded with the design requirements, which provided reference for further real installation of the system. Through the analysis on the simulation results, it can be concluded that this system is feasible and this control system can also be applied to other photoelectricity servocontrol equipments.
Analysis on strength and reliability of pneumatic muscle

Aiming at the failure of pneumatic muscle during usage, factors affecting the strength and reliability of pneumatic muscle were analyzed. Firstly, force acting on the braided net was analyzed and the equation to express this force by parameters of pneumatic muscle was provided. Then, the factors affecting the strength and reliability of the rubber tube were analyzed qualitatively. Finally, some problems requiring attention in design and application of pneumatic muscle were proposed. The conclusions given are helpful in design and fabrication of pneumatic muscle.
Influence of inlet and outlet valve's open timing on pneumatic engine and their optimal design

To solve dynamic and economic performance deterioration of pneumatic engine under high speed, the open timing of inlet valve and outlet valve was optimized. Based on thermodynamics, the model of pneumatic engine inner process was established, which obtained the influence of inlet valve and outlet valve's open timing on pneumatic engine's dynamic and economic performances separately. The results show that the dynamic and economic performances are improved when the inlet valve was opened earlier appropriately and the open timing of outlet valve is constant. And they are improved also when the outlet valve was opened earlier appropriately and the open timing of inlet valve is constant. The correctness of this model is validated by experiments. Finally, by taking power and gas loss rate as optimization objective, and utilizing the above established model, dimension-reduction algorithm is adopted for optimization calculation. The result of optimization indicates that for different speeds, the optimal open timing of inlet and outlet valve are different. At high speed, dynamic and economic performances are greatly enhanced. When rotating speed is higher than 2 000 r/min, power is increased by more than 20% while gas loss rate decreases more than 25%. 
Nonlinear damping sensitivity analysis of floating raft vibration-isolating system under multi-source excitation

Sensitivity analysis and optimization of complex structure is the key problem of structure design. By utilizing mobility method, response and characteristics of power flow of floating raft vibration-isolating system under multi-source excitation was analyzed. Sensitivity analysis method was adopted to analyze the sensitivity of given parameters as well as the sensitivity when there exists nonlinear damp in this system. Research on sensitivity of system characteristics on these parameters was carried out and then the effect of the parameter change was estimated, which was employed to guide optimization of system structure. 
Tooth contact analysis of involute gear

Based on Hertz stress expression, one pair of meshing teeth was equivalent to two contacting cylinders and then the theoretic expression of gear tooth contact expression was derived. A finite element method (FEM) for one pair of meshing teeth was established. This method established parameterized tooth profile according to involute and root transitional curve equations with defined intervals. In this method, the rim thickness was 3 times of module and the circumferential width was 3 times of tooth thickness, too. Grid refining process was adopted on contacting edge and equalized tangential forces and fixed constraints were applied respectively on the inner rims of driving and driven gears. The results from FEM and theoretical formula were in excellent agreement with less than 5% errors, and FEM was proved to be suitable for gear pairs with different tooth parameters. From FEM, the contact stress obeys the semi-ellipse distribution and the Mises stress and shear stress are also consistent with contact mechanics theory, but there exists offset or deflection in the symmetric lines of stress distribution, which originates from tooth bending deformation.
Development of DAM software for double arc gear

Double arc gear has higher teeth surface contact intensity and gear teeth bending strength than involute gear but its geometry design and mechanics computation are quite complex. To promote this highperformance gear, design and computation automation have to be realized. For this purpose, DAM software is developed based on OpenGL graph kernel. It integrates geometry design, mechanics computation and generation of CNC machining code together. Due to length limitation, this paper only described the part of solid geometrical design process.
Research on mold-base design technology based on uniform assembly model

 Through deep analysis on typical mold-base structure of general injection mold, uniform modeling method of standard mold-base was proposed, in which uniform modeling was implemented by controlling the suppression of plate in standard mold-base through redundancy control parameters and the size deformation of related components. And then analysis on technology of mold-base design based on the uniform assembly model was conducted. Through control expressions, plate features construction, top-down mold-base assembly construction, and virtual assembly mating location technology, a mold-base assembly design system was developed by adopting redundancy control parameters to realize variant design and then mold-base free variant design based on uniform assembly model was implemented. 
Effects of different substrate preheating temperature on temperature field during laser metal deposition shaping

To decrease thermal stress, restrain generation of cracks and reduce shape distortion of samples and substrate, preheating of substrate is usually required during laser metal deposition shaping (LMDS). Therefore, research on the effect of different substrate preheating temperatures on temperature field during processing is of great importance. Based on the “element life and death” theory of FEA, a 3D multitrack and multi-layer model for LMDS is developed with ANSYS parametric design language (APDL). Then, effects of substrate preheating temperature on temperature field and temperature gradient are analyzed with details by setting the substrate preheating temperature at room temperature, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 ℃. Through LMDS system and substrate preheating system developed by Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Science, and with the same parameters of simulating process, LMDS experiments are carried out with nickel-based super-alloy at room temperature, 300, 400, 500, 560 ℃. The results show good agreement with the numeric simulation. 

The hardware platform of control system for Zn-Air battery producing line was constructed by utilizing ARM9 as a core and its software was developed. An effective control algorithm for servo motor in this system was designed, which implemented highly accurately matching of rolling-up and rolling-back speed and improved product quality. The practice indicates that this system can perform real-time control task well and realize precisely control of speed and tension. 

Study on micro-dissection technique based on ultrasonic vibration

In order to meet the requirements of biologic tissue micro-dissection, ultrasonic vibration was proposed to micro-operation field, and a set of ultrasonic vibration micro-dissection system was developed. Based on the ultrasonic vibration micro-dissection theory, combining the characteristics of biologic tissue cutting, research on the critical technique was conducted and the general structure design of this system was completed. In addition, the micro-dissection execution system and its control system were developed. Meantime, the micro-dissection system integration was implemented. Furthermore, the experiments of bio-micro-dissection were carried out and better result was obtained, which demonstrates the feasibility and validity of the micro-dissection with ultrasonic vibration used to biologic tissue.
Modeling and simulation of electrostatic micropump based on MEMS

Electrostatic micro-pump based on MEMS is modeled by FEA. The modeling of coupled-field electrostatic micro-pump involved in multi-physics is reasonably simplified in simulation. In static analysis, small deflection theory of circular plate and electrostatic actuating theory are adopted to simulate electrostatic-structural coupled process. In modal analysis, harmonic response analysis and nonlinear transient dynamic analysis of pump membrane, the fluid in the pump is regarded as an additional mass acting on the pump membrane to approximately substitute the effect of fluid field on pump membrane, which reduces the amount of calculation and improves simulation efficiency. 

A new theoretical model on pasture compression is proposed to reduce hay baler energy consumption and seek the optimum ratio of property & price by combining field experiment on self-developed hay balers. The idea of unidirectional compressing and multi-directional change was presented and its basic properties by reference to visco-elastics qulities in adopting rheology were theoretically deduced. The hay compressing process was divided into 5 phrases, and some practical phenomena during this process were explained. It was concluded that the optimal length of compressing room was 2 m or so. When compression reaches 8 times, the maximal pressure was 0.8 MPa and bundle ties consumption reduces about one third. This paper provides theoretic basis for design of compressing equipments for agricultural fibre material.

To increase working efficiency of linear induction motor (LIM) by decreasing the clearance between LIM and reaction plate, a new structure bogie with independent rotating wheel (IRW) for LIM metro vehicle was presented, which was convenient for installation of LIM and lowered the design requirements of bogie structure required by LIM. By using the multi-body dynamics application SIMPACK, the dynamic performance of LIM metro vehicle with IRW is calculated. The dynamic simulation analysis result indicates that LIM metro vehicle with IRW has good dynamic performance in stability and curve negotiation.
