In order to study the influence of some organic matter such as quinones and surfactant in soil and ground water on the remediation of the chlorinated compounds pollution in environment by zerovalent iron (ZVI), the iron reduction degradation was enhanced by adding organic matter and surfactant loaded on the iron surface to the ZVI reduction system. The former can enhance the electron transfer and the latter can improve the adsorption of iron to the carbon tetrachloride. The results showed that the degradation rate of carbon tetrachloride increased 70% and 52% respectively by the adding of 4.0×10-3 mol/L anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonate and 1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone. ZVI loaded by the cation surfactant had good synergistic effect on the degradation of carbon tetrachloride, and the best synergistic effect was achieved at the critical micelle concentration. The degradation rate of carbon tetrachloride was enhanced by 81% and 130% respectively with the iron treated by cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide and cetyl pyridinium bromide. The iron modified by the anionic surfactant hardly had any obvious effect on the degradation.
