Abstract

For the research of the decontamination of chemical warfare agents (CWAs) with plasma, a needles-plate pulsed high voltage discharge aeration reactor was investigated to decontaminate aqueous dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP) with initial concentration of 500 mg/L. It was found that 200 mL DMMP solution could be decontaminated 90% and mineralized 68% with plasma of 12.5 W in 100 min, and spark above water (SAW) plasma was more effective in promoting Fenton oxidation than corona under water (CUW) plasma. By fitting the reaction curves with trinomial, the reaction kinetic was studied, which showed that the reaction order was less than one and tended to zero as the power increased.
