An argument can be made that future interfaith dialogue should move toward the direction of an interfaith theology, which forms an attempt to integrate insights from different faith perspectives and ask for their eventual compatibility. Apparent contradictions can and should mdash;according to W.C. Smith—be seen as an ″invitation to synthesis Prime;. There is a need for an interreligious theology to have interreligious dialogue. The Buddhist denial and the Christian affirmation of a Divine Creator show that despite the seeming incompatibility, a closer hermeneutical investigation can indeed reveal that both sides have much in common in terms of motives and concerns.
