Abstract To create a higher efficiency a CAD tool must be extended for special tasks,e.g.the design of hydraulic manifolds,so that some of the calculations and constraint checking can be done within the program.This paper presents such a design system that is based on product models for hydrostatic components.It handles not only geometric data but also technical and administrative data that are necessary for the extended functionality.
