Elastic finite element analyses and experiment research on welded spherical joints with square hollow sections

Abstract Finite element analysis was carried out to investigate the performance of welded hollow spherical joints with square hollow sections under axial force. Elastic finite element analysis of these joints under axial force adopting finite element model of solid unit was conducted. And then the distribution rule of the stress and displacement of these joints was provided and their mechanical performance was analyzed. By comparing the results with the ones got from experiments, it could be concluded that the two results accorded well.
