Abstract The framework of product virtual prototype design(VPD) based on ACIS 7.0 is constructed according to the theory of quality-driven VPD. The visualized system in which the entities are translated from visualized databases by Open Inventor 2.0 and the original objects are rendered by Renderizer 2.5 is developed by C++ in LINUX platform. Moreover, a product information exchange model based on STEP standard is established. Before manufacture of physical prototype, all stages of product life cycle can be analyzed, evaluated, decided and revised, and finally integration of product data management and design procedures is implemented.
