Design validation during new injection-molded product development

Abstract The technical design assumptions during new product development were discussed in order to reduce design errors. Combined with prototype technology, experiences, experiments, CAD and CAE technologies, six design validation methods were put forward. They are prototype validation, experience validation, experiment validation, CAD validation, processing simulation validation and integrated simulation validation. These methods were applied in the new product developments of injectionmolded parts. It shows that these six design validation methods can be applied in concepts, design, prototype testing and the trialproduction stages of new product development.
