Abstract High power electrical special drives are designed mostly at the limit of technical feasibility and require consistent use of modern,flexible calculation methods.The optimisadon of such a drive system requires an integral and extensive analysis of the process under consideration of all interactions between the systems of the plant.The chances and risks of an efficient use of high-quality EDP methods at the planning and dimensioning of tailormade big electrical drives are discussed.
