Abstract Universal part is a kind of the parts which can be reused at different produces．In the process of engineering design，it has become an important problem of how to manage the substantive engineering graphic and build the universal parts graphic library to enhance the design efficiency and standardize the design mode1．After analyzing the new need of graphic library，the application of universal parts graphic library system based on network c／s model is described，and the implement of this application is illustrated by the example of Xi-Zhuang ship universal parts graphic library manage system．
