Consolidation displacement of elastic circular plate on poroelastic foundation

Abstract The paper studied the consolidation displacement of an elastic circular plate on a poroe-lastic foundation by Laplace transform and Hankel transform.The Fredholm integral equation of the second kind is established in the Laplace transform domain in order to obtain the consolidation displacement of the elastic plate.Laplace transform solutions are converted to time domain solutions by numerical methods.The numerical results useful to engineering practice are given.The results obtained indicate that the consolidation displacement of elastic plate increases with decreasing drained Poisson’S ratio,and the initial displacement of elastic plate increases with decreasing undrained Poisson’s ratio.
