Abstract Authors present the dimension expressions of special instrument circular arc gear, and propose a selective method of hob' s rolling circle radius according as conjugate rack profiles existe or not. Then, according to the principle of tooth normal technique, authors propose a design method of hob' s tooth profiles for special instrument circle arc gear, and deduced all formulae used to design hob' s tooth profiles. Eventually, Authors take week-calendar wheel used in woman' s mechanical watch as an example, design the hob' s tooth profiles. The gears, which is cut with the hobs designed above, can satisfy all design demands completely.
