Abstract A kind of energy-loaded joint used for deployable space structures is proposed and designed, and its deploying mechanics is also studied. The curtail rigid matrix of macrocell which is composed of the rod and its torsiomal springs has been analyzed. It has been shown that the resonant behaviour of structure was significantly improved by introducing the energy-loaded joints into it. It' s proved that this design is reliable and feasible.
