New Directions of Rural Planning :An Urban-Rural Integration Perspective

Abstract  Urban-rural integration is the interactive development of the″c ity″a nd the″v illage″. Rural planning should take into consideration the general social background of urban-rural integration .With an analysis of current planning predicament , new directions for rural planning are proposed . These new directions have the following three characteristic features : villagers playing a leading rather than a receptive role ,planning improved with a systematic point of view , and the ″top-down″ blueprint replaced by an″interactive″ planning process .
