Abstract( 300 )   HTML (   PDF(2871KB)( 167 )
The paper-cut design is very challenging. It should convey rich cultural meanings with a few of simple shapes, and the remains after cut must be connected as an integral piece of work. In this work, we introduce an image-based 2D paper-cut generation method that converts an arbitrary image into a paper-cut pattern automatically. An adjacent graph is first constructed using a segmentation of the input image, and then a paper-cutting mathematical model that consists of color, boundary contrast and connectivity constraints is proposed, the final paper-cut pattern is computed by solving this model as an optimization problem. User-friendly interaction tools like connectivity post-processing and region assignment are provided, which allow the users to easily add their personal designs into the automatically generated paper-cuts. Experiments demonstrate the proposed method can generate feature-preserved and geometry-connected paper-cuts, it reduces the design difficulty while satisfying users’ personalized demand, which contributes to the transmission and inheritance of our folk paper-cut art.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 284-296.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.003
Abstract( 231 )   HTML (   PDF(6874KB)( 76 )
Puppet animation is an important branch in the field of animation. Its historical developing process is even longer than traditional hand-painted animation. With its unique shooting method and artistic charm, puppet animation is loved and enjoyed by many artists and audiences. Nevertheless the design and production cycle of puppet animation is long and complicated, with heavy workload and high economic risk. A five-minute puppet animation film usually takes up to several years to complete in the traditional manual production way. This article takes ‘The Wind of The Cypress Hill' directed by the famous Danish animation director Christophe Peladan and ‘The Dragon Fire Arm' directed by the German director Grigori Zurkan as examples to propose a formal linguistic expression with storyline(storyline(i)),?i1,2,,n? and limited set of scenario chain grammar. With this method, one can decompose the story elements of puppet animation film, analyze the implied meaning of stop-motion animation movies through different narrative structures according to the assembly logic of lens pictures in narrative space. This article explains the standardized design process from the perspective of story calculation, which provides new ideas for modeling theories of puppet animation films and assist intelligent computing. This can improve the design and production efficiency of puppet animation films, and provide a new model for multi-professional cross-border collaboration . It provides a possibility for ordinary puppet animation enthusiasts to participate in creation.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 297-300.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.004
Abstract( 138 )   HTML (   PDF(348KB)( 212 )
For any positive integer q, let A(q) denote the set of all regular numbers of the modulo q in the interval 1mq. A new arithmetic function is introduced on the basis of A(q). The arithmetic properties of the function are studied by elementary methods and by applying the properties of trigonometric sums. Using this arithmetic property, we study the computational problem of an infinite series containing the function, and obtain the concrete form of the arithmetic function when it is equal to 1, then derive an interesting identity containing the function.

Abstract( 128 )   HTML (   PDF(442KB)( 156 )
Circulant graphs are an important class of interconnection networks in parallel and distributed computing, and integral circulant graphs play an important role in modeling quantum spin networks which support the perfect state transfer. The rank of a graph is defined to be the rank of its adjacency matrix. In this note, using Ramanujan sums, by means of the Euler function and the Mobius function, we study the rank for some integral circulant graphs, and deduce the bounds of rank for integral circulant graphs.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 315-321.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.008
Abstract( 123 )   HTML (   PDF(433KB)( 198 )
In the constant-stress partial accelerated life test, estimation of the parameter for inverse Rayleigh distribution is studied based on left censored samples. Maximum likelihood method is used to obtain the maximum likelihood estimations of the unknown parameter and acceleration factor. The Fisher information matrix is calculated according to the principle of missing information proposed by Louis, meanwhile the approximate confidence intervals of the distributed parameter and the acceleration factor are obtained. When the prior distributions of the parameters are exponential distribution, the Bayesian estimations of the parameters are obtained under the square loss function, and the maximum likelihood method is used to get the estimations of the super parameters. The mean square errors of the estimators are calculated by Monte Carlo simulation, based on these, the maximum likelihood estimation and Bayesian estimation are compared. Finally, the parameter of the inverse Rayleigh distribution and the estimation of acceleration factor are calculated for different left censored samples.

Abstract( 232 )   HTML (   PDF(1145KB)( 84 )
Three-way concept analysis has now become an effective tool for data analysis and knowledge discovery. In this paper, the isomorphism relationship between three-way concept lattice and concept lattice are discussed by studying the characteristics of formal context. And furthermore, the construction methods of three way concept lattice are studied. Firstly, the definitions of dual attribute and attribution dual context are given. Secondly, it is proved that three-way concept lattice and concept lattice of the dual formal context are isomorphic. Furthermore, the dual attribute and attribute dual context are generalized, and then the dual intersectable attribute and attribute dual intersectable context are given. It is also proved that three-way concept lattice and concept lattice of attribute dual intersectable context are isomorphic. Finally, two algorithms to determine the attribute dual context and attribute dual intersectable context and the construction methods of three-way concept lattice are proposed.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 329-336.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.010
Abstract( 274 )   HTML (   PDF(1100KB)( 186 )
Automated essay scoring and comment generation has greatly released expert human raters from huge workload of evaluating English essays, but up to now, there is still some doubt about the accuracy and fairness of its results. In recent years, with the rapid development of machine learning and natural language processing, etc., to some extent the performance of text classification, machine translation and the like has been improved. However, quite a number of new research achievements have not been applied to automated essay scoring. This paper presents a semantic representation vector of essays, which is a combination of the features of word2vec, paragraph2vec, pos2vec and LDA (latent Dirichlet allocation); then, the commentary labels of essays are generated through the semantic similarity model based on kNN (k nearest neighbors) algorithm; next, the English essays are scored on the basis of XGBoost (extreme gradient boosting) regression model; finally, 900 college students’ English essays are taken as samples to verify the results. The case studies show that the evaluating framework in this paper has higher accuracy in automated scoring and comment generation of English essays than traditional methods.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 337-344.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.011
Abstract( 141 )   HTML (   PDF(505KB)( 76 )
In order to solve the problem of the decision makers’ psychological behavior in case-based decision, a case-based decision method for gas explosion considering decision maker’s regret aversion is proposed. Firstly, for the calculation of case similarity, the problem attributes are expanded to six types, including symbol data, crisp data, interval data, triangular fuzzy number, multi-granularity linguistic variable and intuitionistic fuzzy number. The perceived utility is then calculated based on the consideration of the decision maker’s regret aversion, and the case similarity is evaluated by weighted summation. Furthermore, the perceived utility of alternative implementations is calculated, and the comprehensive perceived utility is gained by integrating the perceived utility of case similarity with the perceived utility of alternative implementations. On the basis of the above, the optimal alternative is generated according to the comprehensive perceived utility. Finally, an illustrative example is provided which shows the validity and feasibility of the proposed method .

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 345-354.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.012
Abstract( 252 )   HTML (   PDF(2744KB)( 322 )
For a deep insight of the geochemical characteristics and material origins of surface sediments in Northwest Pacific, the measurements on whole-rock geochemistry and clay minerals were taken on the surface sediments collected during the DY-40 cruise in the Marcus-Wake Seamount of the Northwest Pacific. The results show that the average content of REE is 302.87×10-6,North American shale normalized REE pattern for samples are similar to that of loess with slightly negative Ce and positive Eu anomalies. The results of REE distribution patterns, discriminant functions(DF), M/I(montmorillonite/illite) and smear identification indicate that the samples show multiple material origins and are strongly influenced by the marine biomass, seamount basalts and their alteration products and siliceous organisms also have certain contributions. The REE characteristics of sediments in the study area are different from those of marginal sea sediments and pelagic sediments, similar to sediments in the back-arc basins. Based on the 1/δCe-LREE/HREE and LREE/HREE-Y/Ho discrimination plot, the sedimentary material source structure properties of the study area should be between marginal sea sediments and pelagic sediments, which is an ocean-continent transitional sedimentary property.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 355-361.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.013
Abstract( 141 )   HTML (   PDF(2556KB)( 97 )
Fault gas observation plays an important role in earthquake prediction. This paper studies further and discusses on long-term observational data of fault gas radon in Ledu. In conjunction with the analysis on observation environment interference, geochemical characteristics and so on,it is found that fault gas radon reveals obvious precursor characteristic before the Menyuan Ms6.4 earthquake, In 2017, the annual variation was broken due to river reconstruction and the fault gas migration path was affected. These phenomenon indicate that fault gas radon of Ledu of Qinghai is located in the area of tectonic activity. It’s able to reflect earthquake precursors if we can exclude the interference from the observation working system and environment through formation mechanism analysis, hence applicable to earthquake monitoring.

Journal of Zhejiang University (Science Edition), 2020, 47(3): 380-390.   https://doi.org/10.3785/j.issn.1008-9497.2020.03.016
Abstract( 195 )   HTML (   PDF(1934KB)( 162 )
Monthly housing price data of Hong Kong from 1997 to 2018 are decomposed by the complementary ensemble empirical mode decomposition (CEEMD). Then the reconstructed data are divided into high frequency series, low frequency series and residuals. Bai-Perron multi-breakpoint detection is applied to the low frequency series, and the impact of the major events in the sample period is analyzed. The results show that the impact of the 1997 Asian financial crisis on housing prices is greater than the 2008 financial crisis; the rescue policies of external economies indirectly affected the housing prices in Hong Kong; the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme, housing supply adjustment and mortgage adjustment have a significant impact on house prices; tax adjustments have no significant influence on house prices, but affect transaction volume obviously; SARS outbreak causes the housing prices to fall by around 1%.
