Construction and application of the thematic knowledge base for innovative design

Innovative design of product needs the supports of a large amount of knowledge. According to the requirements of product thematic knowledge in the design process, the construction and application of the thematic knowledge base were put forward. Through analyzing the role of thematic knowledge, the structure and representation of thematic knowledge were established and a hybrid retrieval model was designed. And then a thematic knowledge prototype system for specific products was developed. Finally taking the clutch of CNC punch press as an example, the validity of this method and prototype system was tested.
A new evaluation method of product adaptability based on the value engineering

 Adaptable design is a new design methodology that aims to meet the consumers changing requirements,evaluating product adaptability is the key technology of design process.A new evaluation method of product adaptability based on the value engineering was proposed.This method took the factors such as the total resource consumption,the properties of product and the users use environmental of the products into comprehensive consideration,the ratio of using the product benefits obtained when using it and a series of resources consumed when finishing the task can be used as an evaluation index of adaptability.Then the product with the minimal resource consumption in the whole life cycle can be derived from a number of solutions.Finally,the application effect of the method is shown through the development case study of cylindrical gear milling machines.
An integrated SPC-EPC study for checking assignable causes resulting in sustained shift based on threshold autoregressive model

SPC-EPC integration is an effective method to control the quality of products. Traditional integrated SPCEPC methods are based on linear ARIMA time series model to describe the dynamic noise of the system. But linear models sometimes are unable to model complex nonlinear relationships. To solve this problem, a method using a kind of nonlinear time series model was presented, that is the threshold autoregressive model (TAR), to describe the dynamic noise of the system, and an MMSE controller based on this model was built and an integrated SPCEPC control system was further built. Aiming at control failure in the form of step form that is common during the production process, the control result of this controller and integrated control method was analyzed first by examples and also compared with the result of linear controller. Next the result of this integrated method was verified and analyzed further by simulations. The final results indicate that this integrated SPCEPC method based on nonlinear time series model is effective in controlling complex nonlinear systems which have assignable causes resulting in sustained shift.
Optimal preventive maintenance model based on opportunistic maintenance policy

In order to capture the chance of fault components maintenance in a system,and consider maintenance dependence between the parts in the system, an optimization model which put opportunistic maintenance information into the decisionmaking of system preventive maintenance was proposed. According to the opportunistic preventive maintenance and preventive maintenance expected benefits plan,The model treats fault time in the system as optimized variables and components maintenance fee rates to get the minimum target to do system preventive maintenance optimization, and make sure parts in different fault source ahead of time the preventive maintenance of the threshold. Finally, the example shows that the effect to preventive maintenance is different under the opportunity thresholds of different fault parts, which can provide strong decision support for the system preventive maintenance.
Research on the error of inner spherical surface turning based on the stiffness of feeding system

When the spherical surface is processed by a half closed loop lathe, there will be a low precision and big error. Aiming at the present situation, the stiffness of the feeding system was analyzed by the Hertz contact theory in order to work out how the stiffness affect the error and raise the processing quality. Also,a mathematical model about the stiffness of feeding system was presented. The machining processes of the spherical surface was introduced. The force status of the feeding system in the turning process were derivated. Through the simulation study on the turning error model, it is clear that the error caused by the stiffness of feeding system has a relation with the position of tools and the shape of arc. The error can be compensated by adding pulse in control system. A interpolation operation method including a compensation idea was presented. It is a guide for raising the processing quality in theory.
The research on optimization of Macpherson suspension based on genetic algorithm and ADAMS

To improve the kinematic characteristics of front Macpherson suspension and solve the front wheels wear problem,the independent suspension system of a car was studied.The genetic algorithm and ADAMS(automatic dynamic analysis of mechanical systems)software were combined together.According to spatial structure of Macpherson suspension,its theoretical model was established. A virtual prototype model of front Macpherson suspension was built by using the ADAMS/View module.The virtual prototype model of suspension was optimized with two methods,which were the OPTDESGRG algorithm of ADAMS software and the genetic algorithm combined with ADAMS software.For optimization,the Macpherson suspension structure parameters which had great influence on the wheel track change were chosen as the design variables.After the two algorithms optimization,the kinematics characteristic of suspension get different degrees of improvement.By comparing the optimization results of the two algorithms,the genetic algorithm combined with ADAMS software has the superiority and feasibility.
Research on artillery structural parameter optimization based on ADAMS and CPSO algorithm

Considering artillery to be a multi-component dynamic model and strongly nonlinear system, traditional optimization method which was directly used in the ADAMS environment to optimize the structural parameters of artillery would encounter many obstacles such as the excessive number of iterations, the optimization effect is not obvious and so on. Therefore, the optimization for artillery structural parameters based on ADAMS and CPSO algorithm was proposed. The virtual prototype of artillery was set up by Pro/E and ADAMS, simulation experimentation was executed subsequently. On this condition, chaotic particle swarm algorithm was used to optimize the structural parameters, optimization effect was obvious. According to the comparation between optimization results and initial value, the method is practically validated.

Analysis of acoustical characteristics of coupled intake resonators

The traditional parallel and serial connected resonator are applied to control the intake noise, there are a number of drawbacks, such as its feature of small transmission loss, narrow frequency bandwidth and big mounting space.  The acoustic characteristic of new coupled resonator was analyzed for this problem. The acoustic attenuation mechanism of standard Helmholtz resonator was studied by using one dimensional plan wave approach; three dimensional acoustical finite element models of parallel and coupled connected resonators were established for capturing the evanescent high order modes at area with sudden change; acoustic attenuation performance of the two models was computed, analyzed and compared. the influence of different size parameters on resonance frequency and transmission loss of Helmholtz resonator were especially analyzed. The results show that two coupled resonators could result in triple transmission loss peaks because of resonance between two coupled cavities. The length and diameter of connecting pipe between two cavities are the key dimensions for impacting the effect of acoustical performance, and the attenuation bandwidth can be broadened by reducing the length or increasing the diameter of connecting pipe. Hence, this will provide an important reference for design active and passive coupled resonator.
Contact strength analysis of WN gear driving bases on the load bearing and meshing characterize

In order to discuss strength mechanism and failure causes of WN(WildhaberNovikov)gear transmission, the analysis model of contact strength in loading transmission was established based on three dimensional geometric contact feature and elastic deform of meshing tooth face. The study presented a method on the contact strength analysis of WN gear based on meshing feature. The tooth face contact stress of WN gear with various situations was calculated by FEM analysis and based on changing of contacting load, meshing points and gear pairs. The affectation result relations between the maximum contact stress and effects of helix angle, center distance error, face width and overlap ratio were carried out on the strength design of this gear. It is discovered that the loading feature and strength mechanism of WN gears and involute gears are completely different when the center distance and overlap ratio and helix angle were changed.
Research on parametric precision modeling method of planar double-enveloping hourglass worm gears

Planar double-enveloping hourglass worm gears have a lot of advantages. Solid model contributes to its design and analysis. The worm toothsurface equation and the plane equation of planar doubleenveloping hourglass worm gears were deduced by doing the analysis of the gear principle. Through using the incremental principle, the intersection equation of worm was calculated. The solid parametric precision model system of planar doubleenveloping hourglass worm gears was established by using VB, Matlab and Solidworks software combining with the formula to undertake combined programming. The analytical equation of the model error was established and an error analysis for the exiting example was done. The results show that the method is effective and feasible. This method simplifies the modeling process and improves the design efficiency. It is beneficial to popularize and apply of planar doubleenveloping hourglass worm gears.
Workspace analysis of the end-effectors of Chinese massage robot

A novel end-effectors of Chinese massage robot was constructed. The massage robots kinematics model was established by means of the homogeneous coordinate transformation and inverse positions of the mechanism were investigated. Based on the Chinese medical massage manipulation, the structural parameters of the parallel mechanism workspace influence rule was discussed, which provided the foundation for workspace synthesis. The workspace of this Chinese medical massage robot was portrayed based on the Monte Carlo principle through programming on MATLAB. The threedimensional model of the arm was created by Pro/E and was imported into ADAMS for the movement locus. The simulation results showed that the design of end-effectors of Chinese massage robot could meet the massage requirements and its correctness was verified. It indicates that the working points in the workspace of this massage mechanical robot are distributed compactly and uniformly, which can satisfy the Chinese medical massage requirements with high efficiency. It provides a theoretical basis for the practicability of Chinese massage robot.
Design and dynamic simulation of flexible humanoid manipulator

For optimization design of humanoid robot manipulators, rigidflexible coupling dynamics model was established based on the Jourdain variation principle; assumed modes method was used to decouple the dynamics equations; a variable step size algorithm was programmed to slove the equations in the MATLAB; simulation of manipulators was carried out using MATLAB and ADAMS in the horizontal movement, motion simulation of human arms was carried out in the virtual prototype. According to the movement of adult arms, top deformations of manipulator were compared between variable and uniform cross section of manipulator. The top deformations of six different materials were also compared in the horizontal movement. Results of simulation show that the uniform cross section of manipulator movement can be approximately equivalent to movement of the human arm; axial deformation of humanoid robot manipulators is far less than transversal deformation of manipulators. Axial deformation of humanoid flexible manipulators can be ignored on the condition that the low required accuracy is not high; flexible performance of ABS material manipulators is closer to human arms flexible performance; changing height of section can make humanoid robot manipulators of ABS material to be the same top deformation as human arms, and vibration frequency of humanoid robot manipulators with ABS material is different with the natural frequency of human arms.
The design of trajectory tracking system of intelligent car based on DSP

In the technologies of collision avoidance,the trajectory tracking is a very essential technology. A  10∶1 collision avoidance car model was designed to accomplish the trajectory tracking.The car used TMS320F28335 DSP chip as the core of control module,and multiple sensors as the road of recognizing module.By acquiring the real time road information and the cars status information, the curvature of the road ahead can be got.According to section type control method,the car can automatically adjust the preview distance and the speed according to the curvature of the road ahead.In order to make the intelligent car follow the road,an appropriate previewfollowing driver model was established. Through the PWM wave drive the motor and servo, and the control of PID method, The experiments show that the car can follow the planning path,and have better accuracy and stability.These prove that the previewfollowing driver model to be correct,and it can accomplish the purpose of the path followed.
Design for a novel control system of NC engraving machine

In the traditional NC engraving machines the machining objects are limited due to the closed inner core. In the novel control system, NC Embedded PC type open architecture was employed to combine PCs excellent massive computing ability with motion controller,s real-time control ability. The host computer used dynamic linking library of VC motion controller to realize humanmachine interactive such as process of intelligent control and CAD/CAM integration. The lower computer was used to realize the threeaxis servo, high speed electrical spindle control and hardware intelligent safety protection with the excellent realtime control ability of GE-400-SV. This control system provides an effective way to promote the system integration and flexible manufacturing ability in engraving industry.
Designing implementation and engineering analysis of a rental wheelchair

 In order to solve several problems, such as customer requirement uncertainty, irrationality of manmachine dimension, ignoring rental characteristics and so on, which cause the mistaken idea of design, this paper will do some research about rental wheelchair design. Through applying methods of product design, different characters of user group were analyzed, then 4 design factors such as folding, generalutility, simplicity and durability were extracted. And based on ergonomic analysis of the sedentary posture size, a new kind of folding rental wheelchair was designed by sifting schemes. Through establishing structure dimension, material, processing technology and using the engineering software, this product model was identical with the design factors. As the temporary public conveyance for the particular people, the rental wheelchair has certain market demand.
