Abstract: For many years INA has been synonymous with needle roller bearings. Today,INA ’S wide variety of products ranges from rolling bearings to high precision engine components for the automotive industry. The com pany’S linear technology division offers the m ost com prehensive range of linear guidance systems worldwide-including complete linear units.Application-oriented product development is an im portant factor for the success of a product.This includes the optimization of weight and stiffness to meet specific custom er requirements.One example of modern,goal oriented developm ent is the topology optim ization of a linear guidance system .The results of the optimization were im plemented in a design study in which the complex,non—linear behavior of the com ponent was considered.The study dem onstrates the possibilities for optim izing the linear guidance system .
