mRNA differential display(mRNA DD) was performed for selection of cDNA clones of expressed genes induced by taxol treatment in human breast cancer cells. Results demonstrated that twelve clones from 25 obtained cDNA clones with mRNA DD had significant expression alteration in mRNA level by Northern blot,in which six clones had high homology with known cDNA sequences. The remaining six clones had no homology. Clone C3P3 had not only high homology(99%) with human S-adenosylmethionine synthetase but also the up-regulation of this gene expression corresponding to the enhancement of the enzymatic activities in taxol-induced apoptosis.The results suggested that mRNA DD technique is plausible and effective in searching for significant cDNA clones of altered expressed genes from mRNA level.

The scavenger receptor activity of smooth muscle cells(SMCs) was detected by the method of BA-ELISA- The SMCs in 10~15 generations were seeded in 96-well plates;then oxidized low-density lipoprotein(Ox-LDL) was added to incubate for a certain period of time. Scavenger receptor activity of SMC was shown by Ox-LDL binding and uptake according to BA-ELISA.The results indicated that SMCs in 10~15 generations could express scavenger receptor activity by this method in which Ox-LDL should be incubated with SMCs at least 6~24 h.

In the recent investigation,the effect of tyrosine hydrazide on 3β-HSD activity of the cultured luteal cells of rats was studied by the method of RIA assay. The experiments showed:(1) 0.2 mmol/L tyrosine hydrazide significantly inhibited 3β-HSD activity.(2) Tyrosine hydrazide had biphasic effect on 3β-HSD activity at different concentrations of pregnenolone.(3)Tyrosine hydrazide decreased 3β-HSD activity induced by hCG.

Sixty seven specimens of bronchial squamous cell carcinoma were obtained from histopathologically identified cases. P53 protein was detected in forty-one of 67 specimens(61.2%) by immunohistochemistry;human papillomaviruses(HPVs) infection was detected in ten of 67 speci mens(14.9%) by polymerase chain reaction(PCR ) ;and in these 10 cases of HPV infection, 4 cases had P53 protein positive expression. Results showed that a high proportion of bronchial squamous cell carcinomas had P53 gene mutation and some had HPV infection,and that P53 gene mutation was not associated with the differentiated degree of bronchial squamous cell carcinoma.

In this study,cotton cloth was antibiotically finished by cross-linking of chitosan with glu taraldehyed. The optimal finishing conditions were determined by the orthorgonalic test:-CHO/-NH₂=1 ;the concentration of acetic acid was 8% ;the acting time of glutaraldehyde with chitosan was one hour;and the solubilization duration of chitosan was 24 hours. The finished fabric products showed good antimicrobial effects against Staph. aureus, E. coli, and Candida albicans with the modified Quinn method.

N³-substituted thiazolo[3, 2-b]-1, 2, 4-triazolium bromides(5a~d) were synthesized with 2-aminothiazole(1) as the raw material,via N-amination,cyclization and N-alkylation. The position of the N-substitute was proved by thermolysis of the yields(5a,b).

Rb Protein expression of leukemia cells was examined by SABC immunohistochemistry in 40 patients with acute leukemia. Results showed that Rb protein negative expression rate was 37.5% in all patients(15/40),and 41.6% in patients with M₅ subtype of leukemia(5/12). This suggested that Rb gene expression might be associated with subtypes of leukemia and would affect results of chemotherapy and the prognosis of the disease.

Our recent study was to evaluate four regimens in the treatment of hypoxemia of 36 patients with posthepatitis cirrhosis. The results showed that excellent effect was achieved in patients(10cases) treated with beta blockers and ultraviolet blood irradiation(UBI). In this group of patients serum levels of PaO₂ and SaO₂ after therapy were significantly increased,and higher than those in B and D groups treated with other regimens. Results also showed that there was no definite effcct of hemopurification in the treatment of 6 patients with chronic grave hepatitis.

Using multi-central synthetic polypeptides as coating antigens,an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) was developed for the detection of anti-HGV in serum samples collected from hospitalized patients since 1995. The results showed that positive rate of anti-HGV was 11.11%(1/9), 6.38%(3/47), 7.69%(2/26) in patients with hepatitis non A~E, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B;10.00%(3/30) in hemodialysed and renal-transplantated individuals ;and 3.33%(1/30) in paid blood donors,respectively. The study indicated that hepatitis G virus infection did exist in Hangzhou area.
