142 Pairs of sera from mothers and their infants were examined for HI antibodies. Seronegative was found in 19 Pairs and 7 infants born to mothers with HI antibodies lower than 1:4.Seronegative rate was 13.4% in all the mothers and 18.3% in the infants. The GMTS of the HI antibodies were 8.3 in mothers and 6.5 in infants. Among the infants of 3、5、7、8 months old, the seronegative rates of the HI antibodies were 51%,78.1%,97.8% and 100% respectively. In the groups of 14 3-month old infants,39 5-month old infants and 21 7-month old infants, measles HI antibodies were all found to be negative. The above mentioned susceptiable infants groups were vaccinated with Shanghai 191 attenuated measles vaccine and, after one month's immunization, the positive rates of HI in these infants groups were 57.2%, 97.5% and 100%.Their GMTS were 12.34, 18.89, and 22.23 respectively. In measles epidemic areas measles vaccination is advised to be done when infants are 6 month old.
