Abstract:How to explore a developing model for rural human settlements, which can not only retain nostalgia but also meet the demand and desire of contemporary rural residents, is a very urgent matter. This study of rural mesoscopic space system from the view of "space, entity and activity", which shows the most essential content of the spatial texture of the village, will connect the link between macro geography and micro architecture, and realize seamless docking and integration of rural human settlement research system. By adopting the means of both internal and external mechanisms, namely self organization and planning development control, a win-win situation of rural heritage and modern rural settlement development will be achieved. In order to address the detailed content of the theoretical model, a case study on the ancient village of Caozhai in Jinhua city is conducted.
