Abstract： This article introduces the information education for engineering students. The author stressed thatthe education must proceed from the professional characteristic of students in the future and have to be-yond the scope of traditional Document retrieval teaching，making the students have more informationconsciousness ,the knowledge of information environment as well as the desire to cooperate with infor-mation agencies and their specialist. According to the goal of teaching,three principles of teaching areadvanced :study for the purpose of application;audio-visual and practicality;and properly exceeding thepresent.
