Abstract： A tidal barrier was built on the Yonjiang River in 1959. As a result,the river bed was so seriouslysilted that the longitudinal profile acutely adjusted. In this paper,based on a large amount of the measurement data collected during the period (1952-1987)in the Yongjiang River,the formal characteristics and adjustment model of the longitudinal profileof the river are discussed.
