Abstract: The solvent extraction behavior of rare earth elements wiht 4,7-diphenyl-phenanthroline (Dpp) insolution of picrate(Pic) or salicyrate (Sal一)has been investigated. When we selected (Sal一)and Dpp asanion and CHCI, as diluent,the composition of extractives is as follows}the formula of Pr(Nd)is Ln(Dpp ), (Sal ),. The formula for heavy rare earth is Yb (Dpp ): (Sal ):. The formula changes to Pr (Dpp )}(Sal)} Cl and LnDpp(Sal)ZCl for light rare earth Nd,Sm; or Ln(Dpp)z(Sal)ZCl for heavy rare earthEr, Yb, when the diluent changes to CHZCIZ. The composition of extractives changes with the changingof organic solvent. the composition of extractives also changes with changing of anion. The compositionof extractives becomes Ln(Dpp):(Pic), for light rare earth Pr, Sm, Ln(Dpp)}(Pic)} Cl for middle rareearth Er and LnDpp(Pic). C1 for heavy rare earth Yb if we use Pic as anion. The Lg D-Z curve shows horizontal tetra effect for anion Sal. The Lg D-Z curve shows downwardtetra effect for anion Pic. this is similar to Re3+-A- phen system, the size of A- influences the sharp ofLg D-Z curve are in general.
