Abstract:The change process of geographical spatio-temporal objects is essentially a set of geographical event sequences, so geographical event detection is the key to realize the automatic updating of spatial database. To improve the automatic updating level of spatio-temporal data, taking data updating land use of as an example, five types of geographical events were defined by analyzing the concept and features of geographical events. Then, according to the thematic data constraints of spatial topology, semantic logic and topo-semantic, combined with the spatial similarity theory, this paper proposed a method of geographical event detection based on topology and spatial similarity, and defined protogenic event and secondary event to describe the derivative relationship between two geographical events. The application in land use data management information system proves that the detection method has practical feasibility and effectiveness in the process of land use data updating,which lays the foundation for further automation of event updating.
